"Good luck"
yeah i just say "thanks"
why do people keep wishing each other in the first place? the point is to gain as many return well wishes of luck?? -__- i dont nderstand people. what is the point of it anyway man.
i get people wishing my luck hmmm, before an exam, or a soccer game. i'll be like "thanks, but i dont need luck."
then why dont you see people wishing each other luck when they really need it? like for example when buying 4D or toto. you dont see anyone wishing luck at singapore pools either. are people that selfish to want to hold on to all possible luck they have?
hmmmm. what is luck? yes, luck is whatever that occurs beyond a person's control.
wikipedia says "Luck refers to that which happens beyond a person's control. This view incorporates phenomena that are chance happenings, a person's place of birth for example, but where there is no uncertainty involved, or where the uncertainty is irrelevant. Within this framework one can differentiate between three different types of luck:
Constitutional luck, that is, luck with factors that cannot be changed. Place of birth and genetic constitution are typical examples.
Circumstantial luck, that is, luck with factors that are haphazardly brought on. Accidents and epidemics are typical examples.
Ignorance luck, that is, luck with factors one does not know about. Examples can be identified only in hindsight. "
"another view holds that "luck is probability taken personally". A rationalist approach to luck includes the application of the rules of probability, and an avoidance of unscientific beliefs. The rationalist feels the belief in luck is a result of poor reasoning or wishful thinking. To a rationalist, a believer in luck commits the "post hoc, ergo propter hoc" logical fallacy, which argues that because two events are connected sequentially, they are connected causally as well"
yes i absoultely believe in this. you absoultely need luck when you know you dont have the ability to make things work or whatever, when the situation is actually out of your hands.
when people say good luck before an exam, what does it actually mean. do you notice usually all the nerds who study alot and coincidentally get high scores dont wish for luck in return... yeah. i mean what could possibly happen in an exam that is totally out of your control? maybe its the topics that would come out. but then again, these are spoonfed to us.
i'll go play halo 2 now. bye. i have lats. you have _ _ _ _. :)
